Ribbon Pakoda

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes




Ingredients Required:
  • Kadalai Maavu -2 cups
  • Arisi Maavu -1 1/2 cups
  • VENNAI-2 teaspoons
  • Chilli powder-2 teaspoons
  • Perungayam-liberal application
  • Refined oil-3/4 kilo
  • Salt- to taste

Procedure:
  1. Mix all the ingredients namely, kadalai maavu, arisi maavu, vennai, perungayam, chilli powder and salt with required amount of water to make a semi solid paste, in such a way to squeeze it easily into the oil.
  2. Take the achu and prepare one handful of this prepared Maavu and insert into the achu and squeeze it into the oil in straight lines.
  3. Care should be taken that each application is uniform and the ribbons are not bending, otherwise the product will not cook properly ( half- baked).
  4. Each eedu will take 5 minutes to fry and for the above mentioned quantity the process will be over by 30 to 40 minutes.
  5. Deep fry until a nice brown color arrives and stock it in air tight containers, plastic or ever silver.
Note: Immediately  after taking out the ribbons, don't try to stock it in closed containers.Let it cool down for a while.

This is a very simple dish to make and kids will love this for an evening snack and if need be garlic can be ground with red chilli powder and mixed with the Maavu for enhanced flavour.
