Adai Maavu




Preparation Time: 1 hour
Cooking Time: 15 minutes


Ingredients:
  1. Puzhungal arisi- 1 cup
  2. Kadalai Paruppu- 1/2 cup
  3. Thuvaram Pruppu- 1/2 cup
  4. Uzhutham Paruppu-1/4 cup
  5. Milagai Vatral-10 to 12 nos
  6. Pachai Milagai- 5 to 6 nos
  7. Perungayam-a teaspoon
  8. Curry leaves
  9. Murungai Ilai- optional
  10. Sombu-optional
  11. Sea salt- as required
  12. Onions-nicely chopped
Procedure: 
  • Soak all the ingredients together and leave it for an hour 
  • Grind coarsely in your blender or mixie by adding all the first six ingredients with sea salt
  • To the batter add perungayam and curry leaves and mix well
  • Some add murungai ilai for medicinal value and sombu for flavor
  • Now nice adai maavu is ready and it can be served with vellam, coconut chutney,Thakkali chutney and Ghee
  • Chopped onions can either be mixed with the batter or added to the adai when prepared
  • Aviyal is a delicious combination that goes well with adai - In south we popularly call this dish ADAI AVIYAL.
