Ingredients:
- Puzhungal arisi- 1 cup
- Kadalai Paruppu- 1/2 cup
- Thuvaram Pruppu- 1/2 cup
- Uzhutham Paruppu-1/4 cup
- Milagai Vatral-10 to 12 nos
- Pachai Milagai- 5 to 6 nos
- Perungayam-a teaspoon
- Curry leaves
- Murungai Ilai- optional
- Sombu-optional
- Sea salt- as required
- Onions-nicely chopped
- Soak all the ingredients together and leave it for an hour
- Grind coarsely in your blender or mixie by adding all the first six ingredients with sea salt
- To the batter add perungayam and curry leaves and mix well
- Some add murungai ilai for medicinal value and sombu for flavor
- Now nice adai maavu is ready and it can be served with vellam, coconut chutney,Thakkali chutney and Ghee
- Chopped onions can either be mixed with the batter or added to the adai when prepared
- Aviyal is a delicious combination that goes well with adai - In south we popularly call this dish ADAI AVIYAL.
